a journal: textiles, inspiration, musings

Pages from my sketchbook showing transfer paints printed onto various fabrics: curtain sheers, lace, polycotton stitched with polycotton thread [which took up the paint very well], and experimenting with overlaying sheers onto other fabrics. The very bright sample is printed onto pink stretchy velvet, which proved to be the most absorbent fabric and took up the colour very strongly and very quickly….it will need to be toned down! but worth knowing as I often want bold colours and have sometimes been disappointed with the more muted effects of transfer paints on some fabrics.
